EPIC change for American Catholic Mass.
Traditionally at the end of mass the priest would say the blessing, "peace be with you", and the parishioners would respond, "and also with you". Starting November 27, the response will be changed to... "and with your spirit." Read more about this change here.

The Amish
As I was doing some research for my paper on the Amish, I found some interesting facts..
- The Amish originated from the Anabaptists then later split by following Jakob Amman because of his strict belief on "shunning"
- During Amish worship, songs are done without instruments or harmony, putting an emphasis on WHAT is said rather than HOW it's said.
- Amish married men and men over 40 grow beards as a sign of manhood, but also as a symbol for marriage (like a ring)
-The Amish believe that electricity promotes competition and the photography promotes vanity, both go against the Amish lifestyle of anti-individualism

Augustine and The Jews - lecture
I went to the lecture on Augustine and the jews last week. It turned out to be very interesting. The lecture drew a more elderly crowd but there were a few students there as well. The author of the book went through an outline she had created and adressed issues relating to Augustine and his view on Judaism. The main thing that I pulled from the lecture was that Augustine believed that Jews were correct in their ways of worship and devotion. The lecture also consisted of a Q and A at the end.
